this will be the last part of the penang trip! (=
well apart from the swimming photos..
Day 6
it was one of the maid’s birthday today, so we went to celebrate by going to one of the nearby open air restaurants for breakfast..
Bali High.
they serve dimsum, and my aunt’s real funny. she goes there only cos she likes the way the food is served. old aunties pushing trolleys around with trays of dimsum.
we ordered TONNES of food. 8 people.. hmm..

prawns wrapped in beancurd skin

some really cute prawn in the hagao skin. i have no idea what’s the difference.

and who wouldn’t order egg tarts when there’s dimsum!

porridge with lucky green things.
after brunch, we took a slow walk back..
called cheng ge again and this time, we went to the khoo kong si clan!

the clan is the biggest and richest in penang, owning a lot of shop houses and estates.
there’s a big temple in the middle of the ‘parade square’, with all the tiny shop houses around it. i wouldn’t call it weird, but there are guards on the grounds, and they all have ‘name tags’. those guards are decendants of the khoo clan, and it’s their job to make sure that no one touches or spoils the items on the grounds.
one of them actually scolded me for poking the pictures. haha.
following that, we headed to the perenakan museum, where they filmed the little nonya.. i never followed the show, thus i didn’t have much interest in the house.. but the guide was really good (compared to that eric in jeans and slippers..). he brought us on a tour and explained every thing to us and even entertained our questions. really sincere too! looked like the chinese version of the inspector in “pink panther” the movie. with a moustouche!
so the nonya’s would spend their lives making nice bead shoes, just to show their prospective mother in law that they’re wonderfully awesome. idk, i guess if they’re good with their fingers, they’ll be good in the kitchen and in bed?

glass ornaments for the dining table. the more you have, the richer you are because it’s imported.

the courtyard leading to other parts of the house

stiarcase. gold and more gold!

dining table setting. i wouldn’t be allowed to eat at th etable for sure i’m so clumsy!

the servants table in the kitchen

food cans in all shapes and sizes!
went back to eat more chendol!
went home to rest for a bit..

coco trying to kiss me again haha!
after resting, we went to gurney plaza to do some last min shopping..
went to a&w despite knowing my uncle will bring us for dinner..
on the last night, grandpa flew to penang.. cos bro and sis had h1n1.. this was the reason i couldn’t go home when i was in singapore. homeless for 1 week and moved houses 4 times!

this hawker centre looks a bit like lau pat sat..
i had a hard time ordering this.. )= never knew it’s so difficult! i asked for stingray and they said it’s sold out and due to the huge communication barrier i felt so so fustrated! but finally ordered it after some kind soul told me what stingray was in chinese..

idk why sk must pose in every single photo.

i don’t know who took this pic BUT WHERE IS SJ?
went home and showered.. us 4 girls had a very happy time chatting and laughing and we slept at 4am..
Day 7
last day in penang.. woke up early to pack up.. after packing up i went to camwhore with coco

uncle nat came to the house and waited for us.. haha he’s staring at coco so intently!
then we left.. byebye millennium tower, grant aunt, aunty, grandpa..
uncle nat brought us for one last lunch..
had a nice time eating.. and then uncle nat dropped us off at the airport.. feels so surreal.. to go back and all..
had time to spare so we went to dfs.. bought quite some perfume.. oopsss
was made to wear masks.. haha..

decided to have some fun..

drew on each other’s masks.. can’t really see here.. but she pulled the mask over my eyes cos apparently she drew eyes on the mask..

back in singapore on the travelators!
ohh that’s the last pic.
boo hoo
BUT I’LL BE BACK DON’T WORRY!
and when i’m back i’ll be driving there woo!
