kelong!

October 20, 2009 · 10 Comments

went to sibu island, off kota tingi (spell check) with dad, tecky, junny and qi.

was having pre-trip jitters as usual, so i wasn’t really smiling + was very tired cos i couldn’t sleep well the night before.

Day 1
Photobucket
breakfast stop: bak kut teh.

Photobucket
yummy pork! damn soft, tender, juicy!

ya who am i kidding i don’t even eat pork. haha wouldn’t know how soft or juicy it is -_-

Photobucket
the most foul-tasting soup ever! i got convinced that this soup was better, and when i tasted it. OMG MEMORIES OF THE FOUL SMELLING PORK INTESTINES SOUP MY MOM USED TO MAKE.

it really woke me up man i was cursing all the way..

Photobucket

had to wait for some time before getting onto the boat but once i got on, i felt much better..

4 of us decided to sit outside with the sun, sea, breeze.
Photobucket

Photobucket
hehe my nan hua primary track ‘uniform’! i still can fit damn well into it!

Photobucket
pap.

Photobucket

the kelong serves breakfast at 7am, lunch at 1130, dinner at 530, and supper at 9. 4 meals a day! it cost RM225 for 3d2n, and the meals have 2-3 meats, 1-2 veg, and 1 soup! yum yum. even supper isn’t some drink / dessert! it’s fried noodles, or rice.. breakfast isn’t bread and all, it’s teocheow porridge! a great bargain i’d say. (=

when we reached it was really blazing hot and i was drenched due to the boat ride.

made my mood REAL bad.. i was sulking on a kelong full of unknown people, with nowhere to go.. and i refused to touch the raw meat (i don’t like the idea of touching uncooked stuff you see) so i was being a real BRAT.

and then it rained, and it felt slightly better.. had lunch and i was forced to eat with other people. it felt so sick because we didn’t have a ‘common’ spoon and everyone dipped their spoons / chopsticks in the same bowl / plate..

didn’t eat much and passed most of my rice to junny.

this is our sleeping quarters..
Photobucket
everyone sleeps here, and it’s really safe. you can leave your phone, ipod, bags, camera on the bed and no one would steal it!
that’s cos everyone’s all busy fishing, and honestly, if you stole something you’d be caught because there’s no way you can leave the kelong! the last boat leaves at 2pm, so unless you’re leaving, there’s no point in stealing!

mood got better when it was cloudy and i had 7 hooks on my line. reeled in 2 fish! i have no idea what i caught but i just kept reeling in fish(es) whenever i cast my line. didn’t even have to wait! it was fish after fish and i caught about 40 before dinner. it really cheered me up.. + the fact that the guys and dad helped me to put bait, i didn’t have to touch any raw food..

then it was dinner and i gobbled up. kinda hungry after fishing for 5 straight hours! after eating dinner, we continued fishing.. then we showered.. omg it felt DAMN good. the water was cooling, the wind was blowing when we came out… by 8+, i conked out.. didn’t even eat supper!!! )=

Photobucket
this is before i fell asleep..

Photobucket
hanging our clothes by the bunk

woke up at about 10+, and went to find my dad who was still fishing.. he caught a squid! then teck taught me how to cast a line properly.. and it felt so so right.. like the javelin.. so i just kept throwing and throwing.. then they taught me how to play mahjong (with cards), quite fun! we slept at about 1+am cos we were so drained..

Day 2

Photobucket
the view from the kelong!

woke up at about 9+, and breakfast was over. there was still food on the table but i didn’t feel like eating.. felt like i concussed..

heard laughter coming from the ‘living room’ so i was wondering what the tv was showing to make grown men laugh altogether! went and found out they were showing ‘tom and jerry’. OMG. old school and i couldn’t imagine anyone watching that! in the end, i sat down with them and laughed along. ahahaha

kept irritating my dad to ask for the small boat so i could go snorkelling (that was the whole point of the trip for me) and then he came back saying the boat was spoilt and there wasn’t any way i could get to an island to suntan and snorkel.

was super disappointed!!! was at such a loss cos i didn’t want to spend the whole day fishing.. but that’s exactly what i did in the end..

Photobucket

Photobucket
we’re sitting at the ‘kitchen hole’. it’s this huge square hole where we dump our unfinished food, to feed the fish..

Photobucket
we came up with a plan, to throw food just above our hooks, so when the fish come, all we have to do is pull on our rods and we’ll get a fish for sure!

Photobucket
see this hook? this is lethal! this is the hook we use to ‘get’ fish using the above said plan. (= the fish is definitely unable to get away with a slight ‘jig’.

jigging is when you move your wrist to tug the rod and lift it up. (=

Photobucket
pap unhooking a fish

Photobucket
nice fish! really pretty ahaha

deciding to make full use of my day… i unhooked the fish myself..
Photobucket

and the guys / dad didn’t wanna hook the bait for me so i had NO choice but to do it myself.. had to cut the raw prawns.. -urgh-. i used 2 pliers.. so i didn’t have to touch it at all. haha! from deshelling to cutting them up my hands stayed clean. then i left the prawns in the air for some time so they’d ‘harden’ a bit, and be less icky. that way, they won’t ‘melt’ so easily in the water, and they’ll stick better to the hook. (= it does work for me, i did catch a lot of fish (maybe 50++) so try it if you’re going to fish next time!

Photobucket
accidents are part of holidays and i got pricked in my finger while trying to unhook a fish and it bled. grr. the fish was ‘poisonous’ and so i had no idea if i got pricked by the fish or the hook.

but thank goodness i had the better end of it, after knowing that my arm wasn’t numb..

Photobucket
part of our haul!

Photobucket

so tecky, qi and my dad were ‘jigging’ the whole day at the kitchen hole, with their leftover food. they got so lucky! each tablespoon of food would get them 2 fishes! well using that huge hook, it’s kinda impossible to NOT get a fish.

in teck’s words.. “hey this is more fun than the ufo catcher!” he meant the arcade game, where you kiap the toy with your ‘claws’.

Photobucket
i’m unhooking yet another fish with dad while qi looks on..

Photobucket
this is the poisonous fish!

Photobucket
tecky with the pretty colourful fish

Photobucket
me eating a banana! haha! was getting hungry.. we brought the bananas from home. yumyum

Photobucket
this is my mini-box where i put my catch in (=. kept throwing in fish after fish, and when it got full, i threw all the fish into the big cooler box..

Photobucket
you can’t really see, but in this pic i have 4 fishes on my 7 hooks! (=

Photobucket
out of focus, but i caught a leather jacket D:

Photobucket
pap with the poisonous fish. oh to clarify, the fish can be eaten! while unhooking this species of fish, tecky got pricked. and he got the lousier deal. the poision went to his hand and numbed it and oh boy, was i glad i wasn’t in his shoes. he was more calm than me though!

Photobucket
casting my line after dusk.. at about 7+ and it’s really dark..

Photobucket

Photobucket
me cutting up the bait haha!

Photobucket
total haul for day 1 and 2!!

Photobucket
as you can see, i’m using pliers and a knife to deshell the prawn..

late at night, the small fish all disappear. they decide they’re not hungry anymore. okay just kidding. they disappear because there’s this fish, called a “todak”, long, slim, with a sharp mouth. it eats the fishes! in the afternoon, some i caught a todak with my rod. my fish ate the bait, the todak ate my fish. )= the teeth’s so sharp it bit my whole line off! urgh! it was really annoying cos everytime they bit the bait, my line would snap and i’d have to re-string everything. my line wasn’t strong enough to hold onto the todak either! (i was using a noob rod..)

so at night, with all the todak, i didn’t fish. )= instead, qi decided to try his luck jigging the todaks using his ‘mega hook’

Photobucket
ta-dahhh!!! a todak! silvery blue.

Photobucket
unhooking it is very tricky!! because we jigged it, the fish would get multiple hooks on it’s body. the more it struggles, the more hooks it’ll have.

Photobucket
our first bloody todak with about 4 hooks on it.

and then it was supper. we stayed awake!!
Photobucket
fried beehoon. there was also red bean soup. (=

Photobucket
after shower, nice and fresh! with sea breeze too

we stopped fishing for a bit and boys being boys.. they started muckin around..

Photobucket
pretending to be magicians..

they kept moving the chairs further apart..
Photobucket
i have no idea how qi could withstand it. :/

Photobucket
they wanted to drop the ‘ufo mega hook’ onto my head!

they wanted to camwhore.. and then they decided to do group shots. omg..

Photobucket

Photobucket
you’ve no idea how big my eyes were when they suggested that..

Photobucket
my self-painted toe nails! nice? :D

Photobucket
candy fingernails.. yummm

we saw a huge pufferfish, but they told me not to catch it cos there’s nothing i could do with it.. then we saw a nurse shark too! quite exciting! and 2 sea snakes, which freaked me out. cos snakes can slither their way up the kelongs! oh oh and also, a giant squid! we kept following it, and then it disappeared. and suddenly this man cuahgt the squid! unfair i tell you! we waited so long for it!

played mahjong also.. and slept. goodness. )= we were supposed to ‘ton’ the night but after being in the sun, fishing for more than 15 hours we were dead beat!

Day 3
woke up and packed up. boo hoo.

Photobucket
CHILLIN W MY IPOD YOOO.

fell asleep while listening to the ipod and the next thing i heard.. tecky was saying “chars.. you sleeping ah..? why your eyes open..? awake not?”

SIAN OF COS I WAS SLEEPING LAH. WALAU EH WHERE GOT PPLE NOT SLEEPING THEN LIE SO STILL LIKE DEAD FISH.

he woke me up to go take pictures of the fish..
Photobucket
yayyy! our fish! very fresh because we kept them in ice all the time. i caught a lot of them! (= amongst my prized catches were baby gropa (which i threw back into the ocean), 2 parrot fish, and 2 leather jackets.

Photobucket
had to sort out all the fish because it’s pointless to bring the smaller ones back as there’s no meat..

Photobucket
the sotong pap caught!

Photobucket
the todaks..

i was joking that i was the “most valuable fisherman” cos i caught the most fish, and on the most regular basis.. it was also due to the fact i watched ‘my mvp valentine’ where i coined the term “MVF”. and i called qi the “most valuable jigger” because with his jigging skills, he hooked up tonnes of todaks!

that was until teck said “chars. this isnt fishing. what you did is cast the line, and reel in. and there’s fish. you only hook it, you didn’t fish for it.”

and thus, from being the “most valuable fisherman” i became “the most valuable hooker”. not ideal i know. :/

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
cut the todak’s head off as it was deemed useless..

Photobucket
the less ugly fish. look at the background! we can open a fish market!

Photobucket
choosing the fish

after packing the fish and our stuff, we had lunch.. then, it was time to leave the kelong..

Photobucket
what we stood on for the past few days

Photobucket
byebye kelong!

Photobucket
the water’s damn clear and pretty! i know it’s damn bimbo to say ‘pretty water’ but whateverrrr

Photobucket
the sea was rather calm compared to the day where we got splashed by wave after wave.

Photobucket

set off back home, and upon reaching home, dad cleaned the fish and we had a bbq that same night together with cass and pre. missed them at the kelong )=. it was quite yummy! and company was good too.

will def go back to the kelong again. it was quite fun w/o having to connect with people all over the world with our phones / laptops.. really enjoy the simple life there. and also, me being impatient, i actually enjoyed fishing.. (okay, hooking..) + good food, good company, games to keep us occupied..

shall wait for bro to finish his o levels then we’ll go for the weekend! i heard the other kelong has midnight bbq, and you can catch many crabs, prawns and squids.. (ah fatt kelong)

however, my kelong (ah you kelong) has better shower facilities (a decent hose instead of a jerry can), and better breakfast (noodles / rice instead of bread and butter / kaya).

and i would definitely make sure that the boat to the island for snorkelling is not spoilt! so that i can suntan and swim haha!

korean food.

October 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

had lunch with momsy and sis at this korean place at pasir panjang.
set lunch costs $9.90 and there’s tonnes of koreans hoarding the place so you know it’s def good food. (=

it serves many side dishes the minute you sit down!

Photobucket
kimchi salad, brocolli..

Photobucket
fried tofu and lotus roots

Photobucket
pumpkin soup! yum yum. one of the sides!

the sides can easily fill your tummy up.. and you can ask for more sides, for free! it’s really yummy. especially this pumpkin pancake..

Photobucket
my sister’s icy cold noodles.

the taste was… unique.. the soup was sour and cold… the noodles were hard to bite into..

i had bugolgi beef. BUT IT CAME IN SOUP FORM. ))=
no pictures cos i was so shocked when it came lol..

they gave us dessert.. some rice drink… my sis kept saying it’s really nice and i told her i could make it.. it’s just sugar syrup, really cold, and then u throw in like what, 5 grains of rice at the bottom of the cup…

they gave us fruits too! watermelon cut in heart shapes.!
i forced my mom to eat it.. cos they took time to cut it!

Photobucket
tralalal!

10 men i’d….

October 18, 2009 · 5 Comments

uh huh!
you know you know you know!

last night i came up with a list of 10 men i’d fuck.
not literally, of course…

NOT in order, because i can’t choose!

1. the schoolboy

Gao Tian Qi.

he’s so asian i’d go “wtf” at his hair but it’s nice!
well yea the only place i caught him in was “my mvp valentine” where he acted as “gao xing”.
not someone way high on the “to-do” list but he’s not bad i guess.

2. The all rounder

Hugh Grant.

can any woman not swoon at his accent / looks / body / whatsnot? seriously this man can act damn well in romantic comedy (is there such a genre?). how can anyone resist this man?!

3. The hottest superhero (if you consider him as one)

Hugh Jackman.

He’s one of the reasons why xmen is my fav marvel comic! not that i actually read the comics, but i loved the cartoons they played on tv and then when the movies came out, WHAM! in your face. my personal fav is xmen III cos of the fight, and there were so many different characters portrayed! although i really felt that jean gray was annoying, with her vericose veins, saggy face..

4. The man everyone would approve of

George Clooney.

goodness, even my aunt is fighting for him! she once told me if she saw george clooney while we were out, she’ll push me so she can get a headstart. This guy’s so charasmatic! hehehe. one thing for sure, his spawn would look like angels. this guy actually makes growing old an easy feat (for men of course..).

5. The one who used to be on my wall

Brad Pitt.

no idea why i like him, but i was once made to write an essay on brad pitt! had to describe his deep set eyes, chiseled jaw (yes i actually used these phrases). paired with george clooney in the ocean’s trilogy (i hope there’s more to come!) and awesome, we get a perfect christmas package that came wayyy to early. looks good with his head shaved, though i really really dislike his messy hair, mustouche look. and i liked him better with jennifer aniston!

6. The chef

Curtis Stone.

we all love a man who can cook! what’s more this chef comes in such a delicious package! tall, muscular, suave…. have you seen the women throwing themselves at him in the supermarket? skank alert! but it just goes to show that we women are ALSO visual creatures!

7. The Korean

Jang Hyuk.

fell in love with him / his character played in “successful story of a bright girl” where this man has such a huge ego, is 29, has never been in love and doesn’t know how to treat the girl he loves! epic cuteness!

8. The first love

Jerry Yan.

my first and last love! i watched meteor garden when it first came out, in 2002. 7 years later, i’m watching it, and it still makes me feel the same way i once did! squirmy on the inside! this man can act, not much of singing but he’s a model. yum yum. 1.8m, broad shoulders, muscles, and a REALLY nice smile (with dimples!)! AND he looks good in sleeveless clothes. beat that!

9. The man with hair clips

He Jun Xiang.

also appeared in a taiwanese drama, “devil beside you”. wears hair clips in his head, rides a bike, looks good when he ties up half his hair! makes my knees weak too :D

10. The muscle man

Vin Diesel.

yea i KNOW that if i were to really *cough* him, i’d be paralysed, probably dead. but this guy’s full of muscles i’d gladly hand wash all my clothes on his rock hard abs! plus he’d make you feel safe.. i don’t think there’s anyone who’d dare to rob him or anything.

That’d be all except…

i wanna add one more person!

that’s just cos i felt like it. haha!

cuzzie’s 21st birthday

October 15, 2009 · 4 Comments

attended nicholas’s birthday on the 3rd oct at pebble bay!

intended to celebrate godma’s birthday there too, so i ordered a cake specially for her. was told to help make birthday cards so i did!

nicholas’s card.

godma’s card!

was one of the first few to arrive! happy cos i hate going into a crowd. helped to set up the place.. apparently there was gonna be about 60 odd people..

decided to take some photos before everyone hogged the birthday boy.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
slacking while waiting for people to arrive..

Photobucket
birthday boy with his deco

Photobucket
i’m always amazed at how people can take photos like these w/o putting their arms round each other

Photobucket
i still can’t reach his height! and the irony is that my hands are round his shoulders. need to teach bro to be a gentleman

Photobucket
with popo!

and godma was sick so she didn’t go for the party. ))= MAJOR disappointment.. so in the end i had to send the cake to her house..

Photobucket
ta-dahhh!! godma’s hermes cake!

Photobucket
nice right! she was so happy when she saw it..

Photobucket
real box, fake box!

went back to the party and they were playing some balloon games..
Photobucket
who can stack the balloons. haha. apparently my sis and bro were playing and they won!

the next game was the newspaper game, where you’ve to fold the paper and stand on it..
mel and i were asked to play the game. OH THE HORROR.

Photobucket

Photobucket
awkward photo there!

Photobucket
don’t say there’s no unglam pic of me.. hahaha

we NEARLY won.. hahaha but we still got prizes.. the last game involved acting, kinda like charades… since all the people where were dancers.. well.. it was.. interesting..

Photobucket
his bdae cake! i’m so bias so i’m gna say i prefer the hermes cake.

Photobucket
i’m taking a bite off some of the cake i took from godma. muahaha

Photobucket
family shot!

Photobucket

wrap up was funny cos the security guard came in and just turned off the damn air con. see that’s the problem with condos. 10 or 11 pm, everything off. wonder why the people in the condo pay maintenance fee! can’t even do whatever they please, plus we weren’t noisy..

penang trip part 5

October 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

this will be the last part of the penang trip! (=
well apart from the swimming photos..

Day 6

it was one of the maid’s birthday today, so we went to celebrate by going to one of the nearby open air restaurants for breakfast..

Bali High.
they serve dimsum, and my aunt’s real funny. she goes there only cos she likes the way the food is served. old aunties pushing trolleys around with trays of dimsum.

we ordered TONNES of food. 8 people.. hmm..

Photobucket
prawns wrapped in beancurd skin

Photobucket
hagao!

Photobucket
siew mai.

Photobucket
chicken feet

Photobucket
some really cute prawn in the hagao skin. i have no idea what’s the difference.

Photobucket
pork buns!

Photobucket
lor mai gai!

Photobucket
and who wouldn’t order egg tarts when there’s dimsum!

Photobucket
porridge with lucky green things.

after brunch, we took a slow walk back..
called cheng ge again and this time, we went to the khoo kong si clan!

Photobucket

Photobucket
the clan is the biggest and richest in penang, owning a lot of shop houses and estates.

there’s a big temple in the middle of the ‘parade square’, with all the tiny shop houses around it. i wouldn’t call it weird, but there are guards on the grounds, and they all have ‘name tags’. those guards are decendants of the khoo clan, and it’s their job to make sure that no one touches or spoils the items on the grounds.

one of them actually scolded me for poking the pictures. haha.

following that, we headed to the perenakan museum, where they filmed the little nonya.. i never followed the show, thus i didn’t have much interest in the house.. but the guide was really good (compared to that eric in jeans and slippers..). he brought us on a tour and explained every thing to us and even entertained our questions. really sincere too! looked like the chinese version of the inspector in “pink panther” the movie. with a moustouche!

Photobucket

so the nonya’s would spend their lives making nice bead shoes, just to show their prospective mother in law that they’re wonderfully awesome. idk, i guess if they’re good with their fingers, they’ll be good in the kitchen and in bed?

Photobucket
glass ornaments for the dining table. the more you have, the richer you are because it’s imported.

Photobucket
the wedding bed!

Photobucket
super old school radio

Photobucket
the courtyard leading to other parts of the house

Photobucket

Photobucket
dining table setting. i wouldn’t be allowed to eat at th etable for sure i’m so clumsy!

Photobucket
the servants table in the kitchen

Photobucket
food cans in all shapes and sizes!

went back to eat more chendol!

Photobucket

went home to rest for a bit..

Photobucket
isn’t he the cutest thing!

Photobucket

Photobucket
coco trying to kiss me again haha!

after resting, we went to gurney plaza to do some last min shopping..
went to a&w despite knowing my uncle will bring us for dinner..

Photobucket
curly fries!

on the last night, grandpa flew to penang.. cos bro and sis had h1n1.. this was the reason i couldn’t go home when i was in singapore. homeless for 1 week and moved houses 4 times!

Photobucket
this hawker centre looks a bit like lau pat sat..

Photobucket

Photobucket
worst nightmare ever. OR LUA.

Photobucket
char kway teow!

Photobucket
char siew noodles.

Photobucket
sambal stingray!

i had a hard time ordering this.. )= never knew it’s so difficult! i asked for stingray and they said it’s sold out and due to the huge communication barrier i felt so so fustrated! but finally ordered it after some kind soul told me what stingray was in chinese..

Photobucket
so serious..

Photobucket
idk why sk must pose in every single photo.

Photobucket
uncle nat and i

Photobucket
i don’t know who took this pic BUT WHERE IS SJ?

went home and showered.. us 4 girls had a very happy time chatting and laughing and we slept at 4am..

Day 7
last day in penang.. woke up early to pack up.. after packing up i went to camwhore with coco

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
panda w coco!

Photobucket
joyce w coco!

Photobucket
uncle nat came to the house and waited for us.. haha he’s staring at coco so intently!

Photobucket
took a pic w my grand aunt..

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
so cute!!!! <<<3

Photobucket
panda torturing coco!!!

Photobucket
he can’t be bothered.. lol

Photobucket

then we left.. byebye millennium tower, grant aunt, aunty, grandpa..
uncle nat brought us for one last lunch..

Photobucket
my fav prawn noodles!!

Photobucket
noodles

had a nice time eating.. and then uncle nat dropped us off at the airport.. feels so surreal.. to go back and all..

Photobucket

had time to spare so we went to dfs.. bought quite some perfume.. oopsss

Photobucket
our airplane!

Photobucket

was made to wear masks.. haha..
Photobucket

Photobucket
I LOOK SO AUNTY HAHAHA

Photobucket
sat w kx.. crazy woman..

decided to have some fun..
Photobucket
drew on each other’s masks.. can’t really see here.. but she pulled the mask over my eyes cos apparently she drew eyes on the mask..

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
back in singapore on the travelators!

ohh that’s the last pic.

boo hoo

BUT I’LL BE BACK DON’T WORRY!
and when i’m back i’ll be driving there woo!

penang trip part 4

October 8, 2009 · 1 Comment

Day 5

batu ferringi!

first up some pics of coco!
Photobucket

Photobucket
lovelove

Photobucket
have to brush his fur daily and he purposely lie down like some dead dog, wanna be a rug, refusing to have his fur brushed!

so cheng ge picked us up and we went to the tropical spice garden!
it was more of a nature walk for us as we didn’t know a lot of spices..

Photobucket

Photobucket
start of the walk!

there were 3 paths, and we didn’t exactly follow them. we just turned as and when we liked, kinda fun but confusing at the same time..

Photobucket
in the middle of nowhere, an old machine. kinda like a sewing machine of sorts i’m guessing.. hahaahah

Photobucket
posing with joyce’s butty

Photobucket

Photobucket
we found this stream of water.. and we washed our hands and feet.. was bloody sticky and hot..

Photobucket
panda returning to her bamboo land

Photobucket

Photobucket
one of the pretty flowers we saw

Photobucket
group photo! took outisde the tropical spice garden. yea i’m wearing damn slack. 2nd home whatttt.

Photobucket
marv if you’re reading, this is for you! ahaha

went to the beach next.. waves were kinda crashing i guess

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
ahhh i love this pic!! kx’s damn cute.

after the beach we went to this jetty of sorts..

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

we took a nice stroll at the jetty.. (= sun was blazing hot..

and we had lunch at some ghetto-ish place.. penang laksa.. all of them ate except me haha! don’t like it. the amount of lucky green things they put..

went to the butterfly park after that. scammer. they ask which country you’re from. wtf.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
spotted a nice blue butterfly!

i’m not a lover of insects, or pests, but some were really pretty to look at! nice colour blending, good for tattooing!

Photobucket
pretty red flower, full of nectar!

Photobucket
stupid girl go block panda..

Photobucket
mini pineapple-ish thing!

Photobucket
glow in the dark scorpion!!

the butterfly park was full of butterflies of all shapes and sizes.. there were loads of different insects and beetles! and reptiles. -gah- not my fav place in the world but it was a good experience!

Photobucket
man face beetle. was laughin at it. SO SAD AND UGLY!!

watched videos of insects in this air con room and slacked for a bit before going to see more exhibits..
okay many pretty butterflies coming up!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
the cutest butterfly! looks like an owl!

Photobucket
me drinking caprisone (how to spell…) so old school!!

left the park and we drove to ‘the ship’. it’s a restaurant in the shape of the ship.. serves steak and seafood

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

after taking photos.. we left. HAHAHA DIDNT EAT THERE JUST POSE FOR PICS ONLY.

we went to the famous char kway teow stall.. as recommended by cheng ge..

Photobucket
6RM a plate..

ta-paoed a packet for my aunt and she was so surprised. because this man didn’t allow my dad to tapao the previous time so i never got a chance to eat it..

we also went to a batik shop! no pictures here i have no idea why!
went home and bullied coco.. joyce and i wrapped a towel round his head and closed our room door.. so coco couldn’t get out of the room.. all he did was sit on the bed and sulk

penang trip part 3

October 6, 2009 · 2 Comments

Day 4

woke up in the morn and took our breakfast!
on the itenarary, grand aunt’s house, snake temple, fishery port (something like under water world), queensbay mall.

uncle nat sent us to his home and i saw grant aunt and aunty.
Photobucket

looks the same, still frail )= but i guess it’s all good for her so far.. it’s been years since she last stayed at my place

called cheng ge (our cabbie) and set off.
Photobucket
snake temple!

the beauty of the temple is that near by, there used to be a lot of snakes. and they were attracted to the incense smell, which in turn, made them drowsy. thus, the temple became their home of sorts, and tourists (like us) would be curious to see the many different snakes
Photobucket

Photobucket
was quite convinced the snakes were fake cos none of them were moving, and the scales looked like plastic. well, until the man plucked this snake off and then it started moving.

Photobucket
us poking the python(i think that’s what it is..) and i didn’t dare to carry it. :/

carefully placed, the snakes are on photo frames and tree stems and they just.don’t.move. really quite amazing. the 4 of them went into the garden while i just remained in the temple looking at the snakes.

Photobucket

left after about 20mins, and decided to head to the fishery port. after driving in circles, we found ourselves in an industrial estate, looking at skinny brown cows crossing the road. no idea why they’re there. one was even lying on the ground :/

headed to queensbay mall for lunch. oh my goodness that mall is HUGE. it’s more long than broad, so we didn’t have to worry about missing corners. (=

settled at “TGIFridays” for lunch. a change from the usual hawker fare.

Photobucket
ps: TGIFridays is opening at The Herren. would go check it out.

Photobucket
ordered wings to share and it came with celery and sour cheese. yum yum. (not the celery). goodness i could have eaten that all day long. :D

Photobucket
i know everyone enjoyed the wings i’m just not sure why kx had that face

we each ordered our own dish. i probably shouldn’t have. should have stuck to eating more wings. haha

Photobucket
chicken breast with mac and cheese

Photobucket
1/2 a chicken with nacho cheese and fries

Photobucket
more chicken. and garden veggies

Photobucket
chicken and shrimp with mash

after lunch, we continued walking. did a fair bit of shopping, and saw some really interesting products for sale. the girls decided to head for a mani/padi while sj would got for a foot massage. however… we ended up in this place..

Photobucket
a fish spa. (sj’s legs btw. too hair to be a girl’s)

we couldn’t stop laughing and shouting, thank goodness we were the only patrons. probably wasted 15mins wriggling and screaming. however at 19RM per 30mins i guess it was a good bargain. experience of a lifetime cos i’m terrified of fishes.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
it was so so so ticklish! something possessed me though, because i paid another 19RM to let the fishes eat me.

Photobucket
these 3 people were bold enough to head to the spa with the bigger fish. :/ took me so long to get convinced that they were less ticklish. as for the size.. i just decided not to look at them.

Photobucket
fishies attacking my foot!

continued walking and shopping, and we decided to head to this old-school funfair we saw while going to queensbay mall. it was only a stone throw’s away so we walked!

Photobucket
was about 6pm or so when we went. (=

Photobucket
they had that scary looking ride!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket
we decided to sit in this spinning circle thing of sorts. looked harmless. it’d go clockwise, then stop, then anti clockwise.

oh boy was i so so so wrong i felt like puking whatever chicken i ate.
Photobucket
joyce had to help me! (k i know the pic is dark..)

anyway, feeling so awfully nauseous i decided not to take the scary ride. sj stayed w me. :D

Photobucket

Photobucket
we decided that the loud music played at the fun fair would be to drown the screams, making the rides seem less freaky.

Photobucket
and we were so wrong! we could hear kx screaming for her dear life. :/

then kx and i went for our mini roller coaster and she kept saying the ride wasn’t fun cos i was busy screaming, and i screamed for so long she laughed and couldn’t breathe.

Photobucket
sat on the octopus

Photobucket

Photobucket
it’s where people spin and go up and down and round in circles. the octopus tentacles would move up and down too, giving the illusion that the tentacles would hit us.

not that i realised, because i was too busy screaming i didn’t see the tentacles flailing.

Photobucket
sat on the world’s worst ferris wheel. it’d move, and stop and jerk. a sure way of making me feel worse. :/

walked round the stall games, they didn’t have cotton candy!!! )=
Photobucket

then cheng ge came to pick us, and he sent us to get bak kut teh from this famous stall. while joyce, panda and sj went to buy the food, kx and i listened to cheng ge’s life story, rather interesting.

he went to a uni in aus, and graduated and became an auditor for 15 years. he went to america to work and while he was there, he went to canada too. coming back he realised it was tiring, and thus decided to be a taxi driver, as it was OTOT.

the bak kut teh was damn good. (= no pictures sadly!

that’s all for day 4, this post is wayy long! (=
