24th Jul, Tuesday
j and i joined a day tour!
and off we went to winsdor castle, the roman baths and stonehenge!
we had a really cool tourguide, he could speak japanese fluently, and he was scruffy (always a plus!). he dressed up too! me being me, i realised that he spoke japanese, the way one speaks english. he began sentences with “hai” all the time, i think it means “ok” in english?
“okay so….” – “hai blablabla” but it was really cute! he had his spiffy accents and all.
there wasn’t much time, we wanted to see the guards again! plus the queen’s doll house was kinda creepy, sorry but i’m really terrified of dolls.. but her home was really… wow. let’s just say i could leave my phone around and then i’d have to get a new one.
no pictures of the queen’s living quarters. but for size comparison.. her house is about the size of my living room. no biggie..
25th Jul, Wednesday
museum day~ well sorta.
we went for the damien hirst exhibition! it was kinda good i guess. though some parts irked me. eg, cabinet full of medicine bottles. one room of cabinets with pills.. or solid coloured pots…
but there were other amazing things! like taking dead butterflies and making them into.. a huge ass ‘painting’, or the part where he split the cow into two.. and the sharks too.. really famous stuff. (= the most disturbing ones would have had to be the blackboard.. which were actually compressed dead houseflies.. or the carcas of a horned animal, and then he let the houseflies breed.. i felt so so sick looking at it..
went to the other exhibitions too!
the wtf ones are.. well they blew my mind
okay literature student mode turned on.
the grey, it represents confusion, a mix of dark and light, truth and lies. it makes one feel uncertain when they look at it. the emotions evoked, one can’t help but feel haunted by their past. their deep dark secrets they’ve tried to wash away but it still remains.
okay could go on for the whole day but you get the drift! OH wait, there’s one more!
went for a few more exhibitions before we left in search for food. i’d love to go back again! and take my time just walking through the rooms..
went home for a break, and then went out for our last night! the london wonderground!
caught a burlesque performance.. now i’m really kinda confused as to what burlesque constitutes.. i was hoping to see more dancing and singing.. rather than acrobatics.. the girls were quite skinny i guess, so that was fine. i felt that the best part of the show was when the emcee came out and talked.. that said, london’s crowd is really TAME. no one cheered or whistled. terrible! the atmosphere was kinda dead…
26th Jul, Thursday
woke up really early because we had to catch a flight for our next leg, and we had to take the train to the airport! made worse because this was the day before the olympics, and it was reported that there was gonna be a strike.. but it was alright in the end! (=
